The Sims 4 Update Lets Neighbor Sims Live Autonomously
In an unannounced update from Maxis, those who play The Sims 4 will encounter a new feature in Neighborhood Stories. Although the feature isn’t foreign to previous Sims games, it’s a first for The Sims 4. Now, Sims part of non-active households can live autonomously.

What new changes does the surprise update bring to The Sims 4?
Although it’s a surprise update, the change was soft-launched back in November. The update gives players the choice to grant their neighboring Sims freedom in deciding for themselves. By agreeing to this choice, the neighboring Sims are then able to decide and make changes in their lives.
In the new update, non-active households have full autonomy. But for players who like having control over their Sims communities, the update to Neighboring Stories features different customization settings.
What can I do with the customization settings?
More on the customization settings, the update is flexible and can cater to different kinds of players. If you want to grant your Sims the freedom to decide but not want them to die in accidental deaths, there is an option to do that. Additionally, there is also a setting that won’t allow neighboring Sims to decide to move out on a random day. That way, you can still maintain and preserve your community.

Simply put, these customization settings give you the power to micromanage what goes on in the lives of your neighboring Sims. But if you’re not interested in any of these, you can always turn off the new feature and carry on with your world-building.
And finally, you can receive updates on your neighbors by checking your mailbox.
