It was another big year for K-dramas with some of the most notable releases. However, it is still too soon to start counting the best Korean series of 2023 as there are ten major releases lined up for December 2023. This lineup of Hallyu stars, and multiple genres including horror, fantasy, action, and romance is sure to bring delight to all the viewers. Check them out below.

At the beginning of the year, I wrote an article about top healing dramas to begin 2023 right. After months of new releases, we are inching forward to the conclusion of another year but instead of looking back, we have an opportunity to look forward to 10 new K-dramas. Therefore, brace yourself to dive into multiple promising series during the festive season.

The month of celebrations is going to begin with some terrifying monsters and action with the release of Sweet Home 2. It will be the first of the two confirmed installments in the horror franchise and mark the last series before Song Kang enlists for mandatory military service. This season will also bring back the surviving characters of the debut series along with many new faces, including Jung Jin Young and Oh Jung Se.

Along with the Netflix horror series, fans can begin their joyful season with the romance fantasy My Man Is Cupid. The K-drama will star Jang Dong Yoon (Daily Dose Of Sunshine) as a Cupid, who has lost his wings. To regain them he appears in front of Nana (Mask Girl), who is a veterinary surgeon with the worst fortune in romance.

‘Welcome To Samdal-ri’ is going to be the perfect healing romance K-drama to wrap up 2023. It has the potential to become one of the best releases of the year with the stunning chemistry of Kim Hye Sun (See You In My 19th Life) and Ji Chang Wook (The Worst Of Evil). The drama will follow fashion photographer Jo Sam-dal who retreats to Jeju after her professional life shambles and meets her childhood friend, weather forecaster Jo Young Pil, who sufferes with a tragic past.

Another much-awaited couple of December 2023 K-drama releases is Geum Sae Rok (Youth of May) and Noh Sang Hyun (Pachinko), who are going to take the baton from Park Hyun Sik and Han So Hee romance anthology series Soundtrack #1. In the second season, the leads play the role of a violinist and pianist who meet again for a project after separating. Will the be able to rekindle their passionate relationship? Nobody does Fantasy about life, and death as K-drama makers. Adding to that the upcoming series Death’s Game is adapted from Webtoon. It stars Park So Dam (Parasite) as death who helps Seo In Guk (Reply 1997) reincarnate. Now, that’s what I call a recipe for success but to make it even more foolproof the drama is lined with cameos of actors Lee Do Hyun, Kim Jae Wook, Go Yoon Jung, Choi Si Woo, Kim Ji Hoon, and Oh Jung Se. It will be a hard to miss cinematic treat.

Actor Jang Dong Yoon is on a roll this year with three K-dramas released within three months. In Like Flowers in Sand, he plays the character of a former traditional Korean wrestling prodigy, who is considering giving up his dream. In this hardship, he meets his childhood friend Lee Joo Myung (Twenty Five Twenty One) as she begins to manage his sports team in his hometown. Will he continue or find strength to give up? Gyeongseong Creature starring Park Seo Joon (Itaewon Class) and Han So Hee (My Name) is a certified success even before its release. So much so that Netflix is already planning its sequel. In the debut season, set in the concluding years of Japanese Imperialism (1945), the drama follows a team of missing person seeker, who ends up going against a mysterious creature in a hospital hiding a dark secret. After the series of romances this will add the necessary spice to everyone’s watchlist.

In the modern romance K-drama Between Him and Her, a couple is struggling with the seven-year curse in their relationship. The spark of their romance has died and they don’t know if the relationship is worth fighting for, when they end up meeting each other in the lobby of a motel with different partners. The chemistry of Lee Dong Hae of K-pop boy band Super Junior with Lee Seol (D.P.) will be something to look forward to in the December 2023 K-drama lineup.
10. My Happy End

Jang Na Ra (Family) and Heo Soon Young (First Responders) starrer year-end K-drama is going to bring all the beloved stereotypes with My Happy End. The drama will follow the story of Seo Jae Won, whose perfect life with her husband and child shatters after she heirs a new designer for her business and reunites with her envious classmate.
