Valheim VR – How To Install, Virtual Reality Gameplay

BY JC Paredes 5 years AGO 2 MIN READ

Valheim, the notable Viking game with survival features, has a thriving modding social group working on exciting projects. Players were looking for new ways to have fun, so a member of the community vowed to incorporate virtual reality into the game!

Valheim VR

If you want to see Valheim from a different, more interactive standpoint, you’ll be happy to know that there is already a mod that enables you to play in virtual reality. The mod isn’t finished yet, as its developer is working on several enhancements, including the addition of motion controls.

Amidst the foregoing, the prototype is already operational and makes use of the title’s 1st-person perspective. Some players have already attempted and are hoping for a full release of the mod.

The VR Mod

The mod’s developer, Brandon Mousseau, emphasized that Valheim was not designed with virtual reality in mind, so his experiment is still in its early stages. As a result, the modder advised players to put it on hold while they worked on other things.

The VR mod can be utilized on any Valheim multi-player database, irrespective of whether or not the other players have it enabled. The most significant disadvantage of this mod is that it does not yet implement motion controls, requiring players to play while seated and using a mouse and keyboard.

Caution!

Non-VR fans should avoid Mousseau’s mod because it can cause nausea. This mod is compatible with Steam VR and integrates a third-person viewpoint.

If you’re brave enough to try it, remember that it’s already downloadable at this LINK. There you will find all of the instructions for installing it as well as the steps to follow to run it without any issues.

Since March 2021, I've worn two hats at Spiel Times: a writer and a Managing Editor. In my writing role, I've earned recognition from Wikipedia and Nev Schulman (Catfish TV Show host) for my insightful analysis and engaging narrative style. I'm passionate about all things gaming, with a keen eye for detail and a knack for uncovering hidden secrets within games. My gaming journey began at a young age, captivated by titles like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. Today, I enjoy exploring open-world RPGs and MMORPGs, consumed by their lore and crafting theories about their narratives. I'm also drawn to the suspenseful atmosphere of horror games and the intricate narratives of crime-themed titles, bringing a unique perspective to my writing. Beyond gaming, I have a fascination with anything unexplained and chilling, a passion that often spills over into my exploration of horror games. When I'm not engrossed in a virtual world, you can find me curled up and spending time with my adorable doggy sidekick, Teemo. As Managing Editor, I'm committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for our writing team. I communicate openly with my team members, addressing any content-related issues and providing guidance to help them excel.
