Valheim “world-destroying” bug mysteriously deletes player world, warns Iron Gate
When trying to survive in Valheim, you might be wary of more than just monsters and starvation, as your total world file is vulnerable to a mysterious bug.
While the Early-Access title Valheim by Iron Gate has been dominating the Steam charts, with many users joining in the Norse-mythology-filled fun, bugs have been a constant part of the experience.
A bug discovered recently, however, is not so quirky or charming.
Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson tweeted out, that an “evil world-destroying bug is still roaming free” that will delete save data.
Luckily, there are some safety measures one can take to prevent this tragedy. “It seems to occur more often if you exit the game by ALT+F4,” Svensson says, “so try to use menu->exist instead.”
But to be completely safe, make a backup of your save file. Svensson advises to find your save progress in “C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\”. You can read his full Tweet thread here.
As long as you do these safety precautions, then the deadliest threat you’ll have to worry about will be the humble Draugrs.
