The highly-anticipated and much awaited basketball prospect, Victor Wembanyama, is set to hit the stage in his Summer League debut. However, Wembanyama’s ridiculous basketball moves and stats wouldn’t be his first career highlight. He has only been in the U.S.A. for just about a week but controversies already followed the huge talent. Just recently, Wembanyama was in the middle of crossfire after his security team allegedly struck a fan who turned out to be Britney Spears. But, amidst every report that’s going on, what really did happen during that time?
Victor Wembanyama vs Britney Spears: What really happened in Las Vegas?
Victor Wembanyama is currently in Las Vegas to make his debut in the NBA Summer League. All eyes are on the French stud as he makes his way to the league for the very first time. But, last night, as Wemby was walking in the streets to have dinner in Catch restaurant in Aria hotel, an unexpected incident took place in Sin City. Reports have been circulating on the internet that Wembanyama’s bodyguards allegedly pushed and slap a fan who tried touching the basketball star. Apparently, that fan turned out to be the iconic Britney Spears.

After knowing about the security issue involving Britney Spears, Wembanyama shed some light via an interview.
According to Wemby, as he was walking into restaurant with his security team, a then-unidentified person started calling the basketball prospect. Wembanyama also added that the fan grabbed him from behind but his bodyguards pushed them away. He continued to walk to the restaurant and didn’t know the identity of the fan until a couple hours later. The 19-year-old athlete was informed that the person who allegedly “grabbed him” was indeed Britney Spears. Wembanyama understood that Spears may have wanted a picture, but his security personnel prohibited it to prevent the crowd from following suit. Later on, multiple reports have surfaced that, not only did Wemby’s bodyguards pushed Britney, they also allegedly slapped and assaulted the celebrity.
Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama said Thursday he believes Britney Spears grabbed him from behind as he was walking into a restaurant at a Las Vegas casino and the security detail he was with pushed the pop star away.

Meanwhile, TMZ found new footage prior to the Wembanyama and Spears altercatio
In the photo below, we can see Britney inside the Catch restaurant as she approaches Victor Wembanyama, who is just right ahead of her. TMZ reported that the altercation took place last Wednesday, at 8:30 PM. Spears was present in the area along with his husband and a couple of friends.

Moments later, the slapping incident would take place. Both Wembanyama and his entourage walked away and never looked back. Later on, it was found out that the assailant was named Damian Smith , the director of team security for the San Antonio Spurs. Smith would be the one to hold Britney spears back and allegedly slap her in the face.
On the other hand, Britney Spears went to Instagram to share her side on the incident
After the incident, Britney Spears shared her sentiments through her IG stories. The legendary pop icon defended herself that she only tapped Wembanyama’s shoulder rather than grabbing him from behind (which is what Wemby said). Spears felt she was assaulted by the director of Security of the San Antonio Spurs after being “back handed in the face” in the middle of a huge crowd.

As of this moment, Britney has already file a police report and is still waiting for an apology from Wembanyama’s side. Although the Metropolitan Police Department is currently doing an investigation, they haven’t treat this issue as a criminal case yet. Damian Smith is a security personnel and has the right to defend Victor Wembanyama. However, were they wrong for overreacting to a fan who just wants a picture with an NBA star?
