April’s full moon occurred on Thursday, April 6, and is known as the “Pink Moon” or the “Spring Moon.” Contrary to its name, the natural satellite does not turn pink on this day. Its name comes from Native American culture, which associates body with the onset of spring.
The name “Pink Moon” is inspired by the moss pink or creeping phlox, a type of flower that blooms during the onset of spring. It is also called the “Breaking Ice Moon,” symbolizing the melting of ice after winter chills.
Pink Moon is highly significant in Horoscope, bringing a shift of energies in zodiac signs. It is also important in different religions and cultures. In Jewish culture, it is called the Paschal Full Moon due to its proximity to the festival of Passover. Meanwhile, it also determines when Easter will be celebrated.
When does ‘Pink Moon’ happen?
Scientifically, a full moon occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned in that exact order. The position does not cast a shadow on the Moon because the satellite’s orbit is inclined to the blue planet’s orbit by roughly five degrees.
However, Horoscope associates the full moon with high energy influx and zodiac polarities. Due to the positions of the celestial bodies, the moon falls in the sign opposite of which the sun is shining through.
This year’s Pink Moon was positioned in Libra, while the sun shone through Aries, giving power to the two signs during the event. Libra and Aries will affect all the other Zodiac signs in the coming days. The former will help with focus and stability, while the latter is likely to affect people’s temperament.
The term started trending on social media as users shared pictures of the moon with friends online.
