The Barbie phenomenon is far from slowing down anytime soon. The movie has reached a cultural point where people can love or hate it but cannot avoid it. In the months nearing its release, Warner Bros’ marketing team has been on a mission to paint the world pink. In fact, they took it almost literally enough that it caused a global shortage of pink paint. On that note, Dubai just got the latest makeover thanks to a giant 3D Barbie doll next to the world’s tallest building, as seen in a viral video. Let’s look at what the ad campaign is all about and explore social media reactions.
Viral video of giant 3D Barbie Doll in Dubai
From the viral video shows a giant Barbie doll in its trademark Mattel case, placed next to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The doll wears a black and white striped jumpsuit paired with black heels and white cat-eye sunglasses.
The 12-second video shows the iconic doll ripping out of her plastic case and posing in front of the building. The outfit pays tribute to her 1959 debut, and even Margot Robbie wears it in the movie.

The clip looks scarily utopian and has been circulated millions of times on social media platforms like Twitter (X). The doll seems to be almost half the height of Burj Khalifa, which is 2,716 feet tall.
However, it turns out that the Barbie doll in the video is not real but a case of carefully designed visual technology. The marketing team at Warner Bros collaborated with an outside agency to achieve it.
How the giant 3D Barbie Doll in Dubai was created
A boutique creative agency based in UAE named Eye Studio was responsible for creating the giant 3D Barbie Doll ad in the viral video. The team achieved this level of CGI using an iPhone video of the Burj Khalifa and superimposed the 3D Barbie doll into it.

According to the studio’s creative director, Juhi Rupani, the project took three days. She spoke about doing something around an iconic product like Barbie and placing it next to the most iconic landmark in Dubai: the Burj Khalifa.
3D generalist Neal Santos, and junior art director, Taha Dungerwala brought the vision into reality after finalizing the concept. The 1959 outfit was an intentional homage to the beginning of the first Barbie doll ever created.

Social media reactions to the giant Barbie
At first, the internet was utterly taken aback when they saw a giant 3D Barbie doll walking around in Dubai next to the Burj Khalifa. However, once they found out it was just well-done CGI, they could breathe easier.

People joked on Twitter that a real-life Barbie of that size would terrify them and give them a cardiac arrest or panic attack. Some criticized the marketing team for going overboard with their budget, exceeding the movie’s actual production costs.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has now crossed the $400 million mark at the worldwide box office in less than a week, which is a tremendous feat.
