While Oppenheimer has managed to wow critics, earn big bucks and redefine the idea of a summer blockbuster, it still doesn’t seem good enough for one infamous celebrity audience member: Logan Paul. The YouTuber did not hold his words back as he claimed to have walked out of the theater. His comments about the movie sparked a frenzy as social media users attacked his taste in film and his attention span. Let’s take a look at why Logan Paul walked out of Oppenheimer and how Twitter users reacted to it. 

Logan Paul’s comments about Oppenheimer

The controversy happened in an episode of his ImPaulsive podcast featuring Talk To Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou. Logan Paul openly admitted that he walked out of watching Oppenheimer in a theater, halfway into the movie.

Logan Paul clarified that he had a similar feeling of ‘slowness’ while watching the first 18 minutes of Interstellar, also directed by Christopher Nolan. However, it went on to become one of his top three favorite films of all time.

The guests reacted in complete shock as they could not believe someone could shoot down a movie of such high standards. After asking him why, Logan Paul complained that the movie was just ‘90 minutes of talking’ and ‘all exposition and no action’.

According to the WWE star, he did not know what they were trying to do. This led to a disagreement between the host and the guests about the atomic bomb biopic. 

Social media users roast Logan Paul

Let’s face it. At this point in internet culture, Oppenheimer slander is not welcome at any cost. Being one of the most influential (and most hated) people online, Logan Paul’s harsh review of Christopher Nolan’s film sparked significant backlash on Twitter. 

Most reactions were directed towards Logan Paul’s intelligence or the apparent lack of it. While movie tastes often differ with individuals, Oppenheimer’s universal success has led to people ganging up on any bad review.

People mocked his attention span and pointed out the fact that he runs a podcast where everyone just talks for hours. This was in connection to his comment that Oppenheimer just had 90 minutes of people talking constantly. 

Some joked that Logan Paul’s disapproval of a movie means it is actually good. Others called out his ongoing controversy with Dillon Danis. There were also a lot of comparisons between Marvel movies and Oppenheimer and how TikTok users would not understand it.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Logan Paul has come under fire for his unapologetic opinions about popular movies. In 2022, he took aim at Jordan Peele’s sci-fi horror masterpiece Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer.

Logan posted a detailed Twitter thread where he said that the movie was objectively slow and confusing with stretched themes that don’t justify the pace. Asked about this in an interview, Daniel Kaluuya brushed it off saying everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Oppenheimer is currently running in cinemas worldwide with over $718 million in box office earnings. Despite a scathing review from Logan Paul, the three-hour IMAX epic holds a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.6 on IMDb.
