After more than a month since Horizon Forbidden West, gamers are wondering if it will ever release on PC. Gamers are hopeful that the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn will soon get its own PC port much like the first game in the series.
Is Horizon Forbidden West coming to the PC?
PlayStation exclusives like Days Gone, God of War, and Uncharted are starting to migrate over to the PC. Because of this, we can’t really blame gamers who predict that Forbidden West is coming to PC. However, PC gamers shouldn’t get their hopes up for a PC version of Horizon Forbidden West anytime soon.
Sony wants to expand their audience by bringing PlayStation Exclusives to PC. However, it’s important to note that it takes the company a while before they successfully port a PS Exclusive to the PC.
The quickest Sony ported a PS Exclusive was with Helldivers
PC gamers usually wait for years until Sony finally releases one of its exclusives to PC. The fastest time they released a PC port for an exclusive title was nine months after it initially released on console. Helldivers first came out in March 3, 2015 for PlayStation Vita, 3, and 4. After nine months, Sony released it on Steam in December 7, 2015.
According to Herman Hulst, Sony’s head of worldwide studios, “Releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC”. He added that the company “remains 100 percent committed to dedicated hardware,” so we can only wait until Sony officially announces HFW coming to PCs.
