Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed is the fourth and final DLC available for gamers who have the Expansion Pass. The story expansion takes us back in time as we meet new characters in the likeness of Matthew, A, Nikol, and Glimmer. However, fans of the series are also in for a treat as two familiar faces return in this expansion pack. Here are all the playable characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed!
Playable characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed
In the story expansion, players get to control six characters in battle as they learn more about the story of Future Redeemed. The narrative in this DLC aims to connect all three of the main games together. Although it is possible for players to enter the Xenoblade universe with Future Redeemed, it’s not highly recommended. One of the reasons is you may feel overwhelmed or confused with the game’s combat system and other mechanics.
The main protagonist in the story is a martial artist named Matthew. Joining him on his journey are A, Nikol, and Glimmer, all new characters introduced to the series. However, two iconic protagonists, Shulk and Rex, are making a comeback in this prequel. Throughout the game, they will be part of your party.

Matthew
Matthew is a Martial Artist who is on the lookout for his missing sister, Na’el. Don’t let his looks deceive you, though. Although Matthew may be a master in fist fighting, he has a caring heart deep inside him. In combat, Matthew uses his fists that charged with special and powerful abilities.
A
A is a Monado Fencer who uses a red sword to take down enemies with Matthew. Alongside Matthew, A is the one who usually makes calculated decisions in the heat of the moment. This is completely the opposite of Matthew, who tends to think more with his fists and less with his head.
Nikol
You might have already seen this character if you’ve played through Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He has a statue in Memorial Hall stating that through Nikol’s prowess in mechanical engineering, the technology he created and tweaked is still being used in the City at present day.
Although Nikol is a Kevesi soldier, he fights with a pair of mechanical arms instead of a Blade.

Glimmer
The fourth among the new playable characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed is an Agnian soldier named Glimmer. In combat, she uses a staff to fight off enemies while also providing healing for her party members.
Similar to Nikol, Glimmer has her own statue in Memorial Hall which recognizes her significant contribution to the development of medical science in the City.
Shulk
Being the first protagonist of the first game in the Xenoblade Chronicles series, Shulk’s appearance in Future Redeemed definitely excited a lot of fans. Throughout the series, a lot of characters refer to Shulk as the “Heir to the Monado”, given how he is able to wield the Monado in combat.
It appears that his role in the story of the entire Xenoblade Chronicles series is not done yet as he becomes playable in Future Redeemed.
Rex
Rex is the protagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. We meet him as a young man who is off to help his Blade find her way back home to Elysium. In Future Redeemed, Rex looks like he is finally all grown up. His entire appearance has changed as he now sports a beard and a scar going down his left eye.
In the new expansion pack, Rex wields dual blades when fighting against enemies.
