Bombanana! Turkish Indie Game Sells 1 Million Copies on Steam in 10 Days

BY Marcus Kade 6 minutes AGO 4 MIN READ

Türkish indie gaming industry has another international success on its hands, this time outside the mobile market that built much of its reputation. A small independent studio has turned a straightforward co-op idea into a Steam hit reaching seven figures in sales. Strong interest before launch suggested something unusual was happening, but the early commercial performance has gone considerably further. Among the latest game releases, Bombanana! also offers another sign of changing gaming trends around smaller PC productions.

Key Takeaways

Turkish indie game Bombanana! achieves remarkable success, selling over one million copies on Steam within its first 10 days, highlighting a growing trend in PC game development beyond mobile.

  • Bombanana! sold more than one million copies on Steam in its first 10 days, driven by significant pre-launch interest including over one million wishlists and six million demo players.
  • The game, developed by Lefto Studio and published by Tark Games, is a three-player co-op party game where players, acting as blind, deaf, and mute monkeys, must communicate to defuse a bomb, making misunderstandings a core part of the fun.
  • This success signifies a broader shift in the Turkish gaming industry, moving beyond its mobile dominance to achieve international recognition in the PC and console markets, with plans for mobile and console versions of Bombanana! in development.

One million sales

Bombanana! sold more than one million copies on Steam within its first 10 days, according to publisher Tark Games. Developed by Türkiye-based Lefto Studio, the three-player co-op party game had already built a substantial audience before arriving. More than one million Steam users added Bombanana! to their wishlists ahead of launch, while its demo attracted over six million players worldwide.

Those numbers gave the project a large potential audience before the full version became available. The game also marks the first published title from Tark Games, an Istanbul-based independent PC and console publisher founded in 2025 by İlker Ergen and İbrahim Yıldırım.

Three unusual monkeys

Behind Bombanana! is Lefto Studio founder Ufuk Girit, a 25-year-old developer who designed the experience around communication rather than complicated rules. Three players become monkeys who are blind, deaf and mute, leaving each participant with only some of the information needed to defuse a bomb. Misunderstandings consequently become part of the fun.

Players have to communicate and solve problems together, creating unpredictable situations depending on how each group responds. Girit said millions of demo players also provided feedback that helped shape the finished game. For a small team, that community involvement became an important part of game development before release.

Türkiye looks beyond mobile

Türkiye has established a substantial gaming ecosystem over the past decade through mobile companies, investment and major exits. Independent PC titles are now adding another dimension, with Supermarket Simulator and Liar’s Bar previously reaching international audiences.

Bombanana! gives that shift another example. Tark Games co-founder Ergen believes the development experience and entrepreneurial culture created through mobile gaming can increasingly carry over into PC and console projects.

Rather than focusing solely on Turkish developers, however, Tark is pursuing an international publishing strategy. Its pipeline currently contains 10 games, with roughly half being developed outside Türkiye.

More platforms coming

Tark helps studios with financing, production and player research. It also provides marketing, creator relations and global platform management without taking an ownership stake. The publisher raised $2.5 million in 2025 in a funding round led by Ludus Ventures, with APY Ventures and Maxis Ventures also participating.

Another Turkish project in its pipeline is Team Machiavelli’s Monster Cuisine. Bombanana!, meanwhile, is already moving beyond PC. A mobile version is scheduled for October, while console editions remain in development with platforms and dates still unannounced. That expansion could keep Bombanana! visible alongside upcoming latest game releases after its Steam breakthrough and turn one of Türkiye’s newest entertainment gaming successes into a considerably broader one.
