10 Must-Watch Comedy Films

We all have our preferences in movies. Some of us like action, some romantics, some like period pieces, some like the sci-fi genre, some like comedy films. However, there are times when we would like to take a break from what we love. We might want to mix it up a little, or just not the movies feel monotonous. Whatever the reason, there are movies to cater to these very needs of ours: Spoofs and parodies.

I’m sure we have all seen at least one parody or spoof before. Here is my list of Top 10 Parodies and Spoofs. This is just a personal list and by no means a ranked list.

Tropic Thunder

This movie has a stellar cast! It is directed by Ben Stiller who also plays a character in the movie. The other members of the cast include Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, Jay Baruchel, Brandon Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, and Bill Hader among others.

In addition, Tobey Maguire also makes an appearance in the film. The plot is that a movie is being made starring these characters, but in the end, they are dropped into a real combat situation on their own. The director plans to capture candid scenes when they face the situations in real life, but things go another way. This is a must-watch for everyone.

Shaun of the Dead

Starring Simon Pegg, this movie shows the life of a salesman whose life seems to offer him nothing. And lo and behold! There is an outbreak that causes people to become zombies, and he suddenly finds himself defending against the hordes of undead and fighting for his life. The mix of gore and comedy is just right, making us laugh while also managing to present a sense of apocalypse.

Zombieland

Zombieland is yet another zombie parody. A combination of comedy, guts, and gore once again, we see a college student team up with others to make it across to a safe haven when an outbreak occurs.

Scary Movie

The films series starring Anna Faris in the lead is a parody of different horror movies, from The Exorcist, Scream, The Ring, Saw, and Paranormal Activity. However, these are just the primary targets of the parody series. In addition, a range of other movies is referenced in each of the movies.

Johnny English

The series of movies starring Rowan Atkinson as an MI6 spy serves as a parody of top-secret mission spy movies. The eccentric behavior and uniquely amusing methods of the spy who messes up, but then actually saves the world never fails to amuse.

What We Do In The Shadows

Directed by and starring Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, along with Jonathan Brugh, this movie takes us along the lives of three vampires living in New Zealand. The three vampires live together and attempt to adjust to modern life, just like everyone else. Roommate meetings, cleaning duties, mirrorless fashion, vampire parties, and preying on victims without staining a clean white shirt are just some of the things you will see in the daily life of a vampire.

Airplane

It is quite an old movie, but that does not mean that it cannot still entertain you. Ted (Leslie Nelson), a traumatized war pilot is aboard a flight in an attempt to win back his girlfriend, who happens to be the flight attendant on the flight. However, when the passengers and pilots fall ill from food poisoning, Ted must overcome his fears to take control of the plane and land safely. Oh, and also, we have an inflatable dummy pilot who can also fly.

Kung Fu Hustle

This is quite a common name nowadays. Kung Fu Hustle depicts the story of a naïve young man who attempts to terrorize the people of a village. Unknown to him, a whole conflict takes place, which sets the main story of the film. The young man ends up intertwined in this story when he tries to be a part of a gang. However, as we near the end of the movie, it becomes a tad bit more serious. Still, it is a pretty good watch and integrates comedy well with a classic gang war.

Spy Hard

Yet another Leslie Nelson classic. This movie portrays a spy in a Die Hard word. A secret agent returns from retirement to save the world from a villain. A dangerously armed villain, a kid who is left home alone and specializes in keeping intruders away, and a range of special cars are some of the things that the movie has to offer.

George of the Jungle

A parody of the Tarzan movies, this movie, and its sequel portray Brendan Fraser in the role of a husband, father, and king of the jungle. In the first movie, we see him adopted and raised by a gorilla. He saves a woman in the jungle one day and moves to the concrete jungle of San Francisco with her. The second part includes him attempting to cope with all the roles when he becomes a father, and when his mother-in-law attempts to upturn his life.
