Wrestling veteran Brian Kendrick was set to make an appearance in the latest AEW Dynamite for a match against Jon Moxley. He was recently released from WWE as a backstage producer, and many knew of his interest in being All Elite. However, he was pulled out the day of the show after several websites reported on vile comments he made in the past.
The reports revealed several old videos of Kendrick spouting conspiracy theories on camera. He was debunking sensitive events such as the 9/11 attacks, the Holocaust, and the Sandy Hook school shooting. The news reached Tony Khan’s ears who announced that they are gathering more information.
He was replaced in the match by Wheeler Yuta. Kendrick also went to Twitter to deliver an apology. He stated that he was sorry for the pain he caused and that his comments never represented any of his beliefs.
Brian Kendrick was a former Cruiserweight champion in WWE.
Prior to his release, he was part of 205 Live and NXT 2.0. He had requested his release in advance and had to wait weeks before the decision.
It is not known if Kendrick will be allowed to wrestle in AEW as Tony Khan has yet to make another statement. It’s likely that they’ll try to let the issue blow over before introducing him in their shows. In the worst-case scenario, AEW may even release him because of the statements. Supporters of Kendrick stand by him and believe that he was sincere with his apology.
