The production for the sequel of James Wan’s Aquaman has officially been wrapped. According to an Instagram post from director/producer James Wan, the production of the film has wrapped and pretty quickly at that. The shooting began sometime during October 2021 and it seems like within 3 months they’ve shot what they wanted to.

In the Instagram post, James Wan is seen celebrating with Jason Mamoa (Aquaman) and Patrick Wilson (King Norm/Ocean Master). The famous horror director blessed the world of cinema with one of the most extravagant and massively scaled film Aquaman in 2018. 4 years later he is back with the much-awaited sequel, and it seems to be in full swing.

“A THOUSAND THANK YOUs to all the incredible crew who worked so hard and tirelessly on this picture. Especially the UK portion where we shot 95% of the film. Truly some of the finest artisans and craftspeople I’ve had the good fortune to work with. And big shout-outs to the amazing Hawaiian and Los Angeles units”, said James Wan.

Aquaman 2 Release Date and Cast

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is all set to release worldwide on December 16, 2022 and seems like it will be on time. Since the shooting is over now, post-production of the film is what’s left. Keeping in mind how CGI heavy and epic Aquaman 2018 was, the post-production will take quite a bit of time. But since the release is almost 11 months away, we can expect it to release on time.

As for Aquaman 2’s cast, Jason Mamoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman will all reprise their roles from Aquaman. That aside, Randall Park (Dr. Stephen Shin), Vincent Regan (Atlan), Jani Zhao (Stingray), Indya Moore (Karshon), and Pilou Asbæk (undisclosed role) will also be joining the cast.

Aquaman will be the 3rd DCEU film to release in 2022 after Black Adam (29th July) and The Flash (4th November). Apart from DCEU, Robert Pattison starrer The Batman is all set to release on 4th March 2022. So, it is going to be a great year for DC fans.
