Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of this year’s most anticipated games. Players all around the world have been able to enjoy the game through a partial release in 2020 and, ever since then, have been waiting for the complete release. Well, the time is here. Baldur’s Gate 3 is all set to be released later this year, but one question remains, will it be available on Xbox? Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Release
The Xbox release for Baldur’s Gate 3 has not yet been given an official date. However, Larian Studios has said that an Xbox version is in development.
- According to the team, the development of the Xbox port has been delayed because of technical issues.
- Even though players on the Xbox might have to wait longer than those on other platforms, at least the team working on the game has reassured them that Baldur’s Gate 3 will get an Xbox release.
- The challenge they are facing is creating a split-screen co-op while optimizing the game for both Xbox Series X and S.
Larian Studios says it may have to make "compromises" to get Baldur's Gate 3 out on Xbox, with Microsoft engineers helping to get split-screen working on Series S:

Another unfortunate news for Xbox users is that those on the Xbox One will not be able to enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3.
- The game is incompatible with the console from the previous generation because of its technical requirements and upgrades.
- David Walgrave, the executive producer at Larian Studios, stated that the engine tweaks and modifications made for Baldur’s Gate 3 might be more advanced than what the Xbox One is capable of.
- Despite these difficulties, there is hope that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on the newer Xbox systems.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date
Since its early partial version launch on October 7, 2020, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a work in progress with regular updates and improvements. Baldur’s Gate III will be released on August 31, 2023.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Platforms
It is available on PC through early access. However, Larian Studios has confirmed that the game will launch on PS5 alongside the full release on August 31, 2023.
Other platforms, aside from the PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, include the following:
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
There are no plans to release Baldur’s Gate 3 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or even Nintendo Switch. This is because these consoles might be unable to handle the demand to run a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of graphics and overall performance.
Larian Studios have given the game technical requirements and optimizations tailored for the more powerful hardware of the next-generation consoles. Unfortunately, they won’t pull a Hogwarts Legacy and release the game on older consoles at a later date.
