Brooklyn Nets’ Season Is Over, Here’s Why

Before the 2022 Playoffs began, the Brooklyn Nets, who were the 7th seed in the East, were deemed to be a lock to win the NBA championship this year. With a very outstanding cast, it was no doubt that the Nets could do it.

But, in the first round against the best defensive team in the league, the Boston Celtics, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving look already lost out there.

After the game 3 loss to the Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets are on the brink of getting swept in the first round. Now that they are down 0-3, they are the lone team in the playoffs to have not won a single game yet.

The Reasons The Nets’ Season Is Already Over

Brooklyn Nets are clearly the more talented team, there’s no doubt about that. But, the Celtics prided themselves on emphatic defense.

  • Currently, the C’s are the no.1 in defense with one of their players, Marcus Smart, being named the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year.
  • Turnovers are killing Brooklyn. In games 1 through 3, most of the turnovers they were giving were due to the Celtics’ frenetic defense.
  • Kevin Durant is showing a bad display. He’s having a rough series, shooting only 36% from the field. Additionally, KD is also unable to score during the 4th quarter which makes no sense.
  • KD and Kyrie’s isolation plays are getting exposed by the zone defense given by the Celtics.
  • No team has ever come back from being down 0-3 in playoffs history.

Brooklyn Nets will host Boston in game 4 on April 25 (7 PM EST). This could be the deciding game if the Nets still have a bit of chance or not.
