Cannes 2023 anatomy of a fall palme d'or

The 76th Cannes International Film Festival just concluded and Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall took home the prestigious Palme d’Or for 2023 alongside other winners. The thrilling French courtroom drama won the festival’s top honor. Through this feat, Justine Triet became the third female Palme d’Or recipient in history after Julia Ducournau for Titane (2021) and Jane Campion for The Piano (1993).

Swedish director Ruben Östlund who won last year’s Palme d’Or for Triangle of Sadness headed the Cannes 2023 jury. The winners were selected from a pool of 21 films in competition.   The closing ceremony for Cannes 2023 featured a star-studded lineup of presenters. The festival faced mixed reactions for opening with Johnny Depp’s Jeanne du Barry.
