Cyberpunk 2077 May Be Available To “As Many Gamers As Possible On Their Platform of Choice”
With many studios partnering with Epic Games for their games to be Epic Games Store exclusive, CD Projekt Red was sure to be asked regarding their upcoming first-person massive open-world singleplayer experience, Cyberpunk 2077 and if it will be an exclusive to the platform as well. However, CDPR Community Lead, Marcin Momot clarified the doubts and answered the question in a rather significant way.
Answering a question from Twitter user Cédric Briffaut, Marcin wrote, “Our goal is to make Cyberpunk 2077 available to as many gamers as possible on their platform of choice.”
Whether or not Cyberpunk 2077 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive was the original question. Although Marcin’s answer doesn’t solidify the company’s terms, if any, with Epic Games for Cyberpunk 2077, we have a basic idea of what to expect.
Since CD Projekt Red has its own game distribution platform, GOG, it’s unlikely to see an exclusive partnership with Epic Games Store for Cyberpunk 2077. Although, following Ubisoft’s move with The Division 2, we can’t be completely sure. Another interesting fact to consider is that CD Projekt Red did try game-exclusivity with their Witcher series spin-off, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales on GOG. However, the game was released on Steam just a month later as it failed to reach the company’s expectations.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Twitter account also “passed” on the idea of making the game an Epic Games Store exclusive on 8th February 2019. However, it remains an unclear statement until an official announcement comes from CD Projekt Red. After all, decisions change.
We’ve contacted CD Projekt Red for further comments on the matter. We’ll update this article if there’s any development.
