During The Game Awards held last December 2022, an announcement that excited casual and hardcore gamers alike was made. Despite the fact that there isn’t any news about a new Castlevania title releasing soon, one of the biggest video game collaborations is taking place. A Return to Castlevania expansion for Dead Cells will be arriving soon and an all-new trailer dropped a few days ago.Â
What’s new in the latest trailer for Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania?
Despite Return to Castlevania being only an expansion for Dead Cells, it’s going to bring loads of content to the platformer. According to Motion Twin and Evil Empire, this DLC is the biggest expansion pack for Dead Cells so far. With that being said, players are in for loads of treats since this DLC will have two new explorable biomes.Â
- Aside from two new biomes, players also have access to new weapons. There will be 14 new weapons included in the Return to Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells. Since the expansion pack focuses on Castlevania, expect iconic weapons from the series to arrive in Dead Cells. Some of the weapons we’re looking forward to are the Holy Water and Vampire Killer.

- Players are able to explore the ins and outs of Dracula’s Castle in the two new biomes. They will also come face to face in intense fights with both Death and Dracula themselves. From the looks of it, you’ll have to give it your all to survive your encounters with the undead.

- The expansion pack also includes Richter Belmont and Alucard. It’s unclear what their roles will be in the Return to Castlevania DLC but nonetheless, we’re still excited.
The expansion pack is scheduled to release sometime this year
Unfortunately, the devs haven’t revealed an exact release date for the upcoming Dead Cells DLC. However, we can be sure to receive it either in the first or second quarter of 2023. According to the teasers we have received so far, it is aiming for a release “early this year.”

Return to Castlevania DLC will most likely cost $9.99 USD once it becomes available for both console and PC players. Expansion packs for Dead Cells usually cost around $4.99 USD. Since the Castlevania expansion pack includes a boatload of new content, it’s only reasonable for the devs to bump up the price.
They also explained this in their announcement, stating that Return to Castlevania is “a lot bigger than previous DLCs,” so we’re really in for a treat with this pack! A lot of players seem to have no problem with this as this is the perfect video game collaboration.
If you’ve been a fan of Dead Cells, the devs do not shy away from revealing that Castlevania mainly inspires the entire game. So for both franchises to finally meet, it’s a win-win situation for both the devs and players.
