Dead Island 2 gains its third developer Deep Silver Damnbuster Studios
During its latest financial report, THQ Nordic announced that Deep Silver Damnbuster Studios has taken over the Dead Island franchise.
Deep Silver Damnbuster Studios will now lead development on the sequel, Dead Island 2.
Developer Sumo Digital has finished working on the project and will not be doing anymore with new developer Dambuster Studios.
This is the third developer associated with the project; it was originally in development at Spec Ops: The Line studio Yager from 2012 to 2016, before it was passed on to Sumo Digital.
There has been no word from Sumo Digital on whether the progress it made on Dead Island 2, which the developer worked on between 2016 and 2019, will be transferred over to Dambuster Studios for them to continue working on, or if the new developer will be pushing the reset button and starting work on the game from scratch.
