With the on-going conflict between Ukraine and Russia, video game companies are showing support for Ukraine by freezing operations in Russia. EA Sports expressed their solidarity with Ukraine in a tweet last March 3. Over the coming weeks, they will be removing Russian and Belarusian teams from their FIFA and NHL games.

EA Sports is also reportedly making changes in their games to remove other aspects related to Russia.
Some aspects may include Russian sports venues and advertisements featured in their games. Additionally, they may make changes regarding the Russian language file included in the titles. A total of three teams will be removed from FIFA 22’s roster. These are CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow, and Spartak Moscow.
EA Sports did not provide a timeline for when the changes will be in effect. But players can expect the Russian teams to be removed from their rosters in the coming days.

EA Sports joins other video game companies who have shown their support for Ukraine.
With these announcements from these famous sports games, EA Sports joins video game companies like Projekt Red to stand in solidarity with Ukraine. Projekt Red is the publisher behind popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher. Projekt Red also announced they will be freezing sales of their games in Russia and Belarus. These sales include both physical and digital copies of their games as they will also halt sales through the GOG platform in Russia and Belarus.
