Final Fantasy XIV sales are being temporarily suspended by Square Enix. This decision was made in order to address server difficulties that prohibit users from logging in properly. Naoki Yoshida, the game’s director and producer, stated this in a new blog post on the game’s official website (via VGC).
In the coming days, digital and physical sales will be halted until further notice; Square Enix is working with merchants to temporarily recall their merchandise. It’s a big shame because the Final Fantasy MMORPG has been attracting millions of users in recent months.
“These temporary suspensions will be phased in over the next few days as we work with our retail partners. We will be coordinating with them as swiftly as possible, but please bear in mind that this will be a gradual process.
We will also be suspending all new advertisements. However, it will not be possible to suspend some of the advertisements due to the nature of how they were set up. We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter.”

At the beginning of the month, Yoshida stated that they would provide seven days of free play. This is especially for those gamers who had difficulty entering the servers during the debut of the Endwalker expansion. Now they have decided to stretch the trial period to 14 days to help make up for this circumstance.
“We are aware that the long waiting times to log into the game are preventing players from playing, and for this, we sincerely apologize.
In response to this, we recently granted 7 days of game time, but now we will also be granting an additional 14 days.”
