Marvel, Star Wars, NBA, and many more have proved that Fortnite isn’t particularly new to pop culture crossovers. Recently, there have been rumors that surfaced online about a possible crossover between Fortnite and the popular zombie survival video game, The Last Of Us.

The rumor started when several leakers such as the XboxEra YouTube podcast and ShiinaBR (Twitter) started sparking the alleged collaboration. XboxEra also happens to leak other rumored crossovers such as Doom Slayer and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which both haven’t seen the light of day yet. There, they stated that the lead characters of ‘The Last Of Us’ – Joel and Ellie – are already under development as future skins in Fortnite.
However, in a fresh tweet by Neil Druckmann (Naughty Dog’s Co-President, makers of The Last Of Us), he informed us that, although he would love to work with Fortnite, there are “no plans” for this kind of collaboration or whatsoever. He also added that it is a “false rumor”.

In his post, all hopes for a Fortnite x The Last Of Us crossover seem to be thrown out the window. But, we shouldn’t frown at all. Naughty Dog’s Uncharted has already been part of Fortnite in the past. And, in light of that, it still wouldn’t be entirely impossible for The Last Of Us to team up with Fortnite in the future.
On the flip side, Neil Druckmann confirmed during the Summer Fest 2022 that they are working on a new game. Aside from that, Naughty Dog is also working on “The Last Of Us” multiplayer spinoff.
Naughty Dog is having a lot on its plates this year. From a remake of The Last Of Us I for PS5, a new untitled game, and now, a live-action adaptation of The Last Of Us by HBO. The Last Of Us I remake is set to hit PS5 in September of this year while the TV adaptation of the game could be out by next year, 2023.

On the other hand, the new game Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog are working on has not been announced yet. There are talks about a possible continuation of their popular titles like Uncharted and The Last Of Us. Whatever game may come out, we just have to wait at least a few more years to hear from them again.
