Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann Working on a New Game

Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann

“Still making games, I haven’t given up my day job “Neil Druckmann, the co-president of Naughty Dog, teased in the Summer Fest 2022. During the fore-end of the interview with Geoff Keighley in this year’s Summer Fest, when asked if he was still making games, Druckmann teased everyone that he actually does but told Keighley it is still too early to talk about it.

Just a few months ago, Neil Druckmann posted on Twitter about Naughty Dog’s hiring phase. There have been a lot of rumors that Naughty Dog studios are developing new games. After Druckmann’s subtle confirmation during the Summer Fest, there are already speculations that a whole new title altogether will appear very soon. They seem to not miss so far, so fans should watch out for future details. Could it really be a new game? Or will it be the third entry in the Last of Us franchise? Or maybe a new Uncharted title?

Apart from new upcoming projects, Druckmann also confirmed that The Last of Us Multiplayer is already in the works.

According to Druckmann, TLoU Multiplayer will be a standalone title, not a game mode. It started as an ambition for the original staff at first but became reality two years after the release of The Last of Us (June 19, 2020). Though he has not unveiled any further details aside from a concept art he revealed in Summer Fest, he assured The Last of Us fans that we will be seeing this game next year. To add, this upcoming game will be helmed by Venus Agarwal, Joe Padnaty, and Anthony Newman who also happened to be part of the production of Uncharted and The Last of Us series.

Naughty Dog, the studio responsible for popular series like The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Crash Bandicoot had its fair share of success. The Last of Us was a huge hit as well as the Uncharted series. Uncharted even had a movie adaptation featuring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg while The Last of Us will be getting a TV live-action adaptation (headed by HBO).

To top it all off, Naughty Dog is releasing a remake for The Last of Us Part I on PS5 this September. What a year for The Last of Us fans it really is: a multiplayer title, a remake, and then a TV adaptation? What a treat!

The Last of Us I celebrated its 9th anniversary last June 14.  Meanwhile, The Last of Us: Part II had its 2nd anniversary last June 19. The 2nd installment in the series recorded its 10 millionth copy sold just this month, too.
