A questline in Genshin Impact’s The Chasm has you go around the whole region to stabilize the “thing” underground. One of these quests is called the First Miasmic Contact. In this guide, we’ll walk you through what the quest is all about and what rewards you get after completing it.
How to unlock First Miasmic Contact quest
To unlock this quest, travelers have to finish the Chasm Spelunkers world quest. Once you finish investigating the three areas for Uncle He’s whereabouts, talk to Zhiqiong to get two quests: First Miasmic Contact and Meeting New People… and Foiling Some Bandits.
First Miasmic Contact quest location
To navigate to this quest, open your quest screen and scroll down to the Chasm Spelunkers questline. Listed under it is the First Miasmic Contact sub-quest. It will direct you to a covered location where you need to “take pictures related to the black mud”.
Head over to the marked location on your map and go through a small opening. If you look straight ahead, you’ll see a glowing spot which you can interact with. Additionally, there’s a Lumenspar you can obtain if you walk right to the glowing spot.
Defeat the Pyro and Hydro Abyss Mage
After you take the photo, a Pyro and Hydro Abyss Mage will appear. Be on your guard as they can quickly attack you given the enclosed space. For you to progress in the quest, make sure to defeat them first.
Finally, you can move further into the tunnels where a cutscene will play. A mysterious figure jumps out of nowhere, surprising both the Traveler and Paimon.
Rewards for completing the First Miasmic Contact quest
Finishing this quest in Genshin Impact will reward you with 200 EXP, 30 Primogems, 20,000 Mora, and 2 Hero’s Wit.
