Former Genshin Impact leaker Ubatcha has given an update on their plans now that Cognosphere has decided to subpoena Discord. The Genshin Impact leak community was in shambles when word got around that Cognosphere had filed a lawsuit against Discord. According to the lawsuit, they have filed a subpoena for Discord to give them information about one of its users. One of Genshin Impact’s selling points is their limited-time character and weapon banners where the gacha system is implemented. Usually, users don’t know which character or weapon banner is going live for the next update, so this is where leakers come into play.
- Ubatcha, a renowned leaker in the Genshin Impact community, has always been hands-on in delivering leaks about the game’s future updates. Most of the leaks people look forward to are the character banners and future events. By knowing the upcoming character banners, Travelers can spend their Primogems wisely to make their favorite character come home.
- However, leakers like Ubatcha have been kicking it up by leaking things they shouldn’t. HoYoverse does not condone any information leaks, but they never did anything as serious as this. Recently, Ubatcha and a few other leakers have taken it upon themselves to reveal essential plot details about the upcoming Story and Archon Quests in Genshin Impact. The majority of the community agrees this may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back as they decided to sue Discord.
- Technically, Discord is not in trouble. All they have to do is hand over information they have about Ubatcha and the person running that account. These include the individual’s email address, phone number, and other personal information linked to the account.
- Since they started posting Genshin Impact leaks, players built a large community on Discord through the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor server. As of writing, the server has over 270,000 members.
Quick update: Was Ubatcha arrested?
Many Genshin Impact players who always tuned in to Ubatcha’s leaks feared the worst. They speculated that Ubatcha would face a severe penalty for violating Cognosphere’s Terms of Service. Most believed that Ubatcha would be arrested, but thankfully, nobody got arrested.
Ubatcha also took to Twitter to give a quick update about the situation. Their Twitter account has been wiped clean of their tweets, but it remains active to this day. In a statement posted on their Twitter account, Ubatcha is finally calling it quits.

They also say that although they won’t post any more leaks, the account will remain active on Twitter. Most posts will focus on Ubatcha or their friends’ projects.
“A weight lifted off my shoulders.”
As a follow-up to the thread they posted about the situation, Ubatcha feels like what happened is a blessing in disguise. According to the former Genshin Impact leaker, it “felt like such a weight lifted off my shoulders” now that they didn’t have to spend most of their time posting content while working a real-life job.
The Leaker Hunt Decree’s aftermath affected many known leakers in the Genshin Impact community. Nowadays, no leakers are as active as before since they fear they might be Cognosphere’s next target.
It’s sad to see someone like Ubatcha go, but we agree with the other players in the community when they say recent leaks have gotten out of hand. It is one thing for leakers to share who the characters for the upcoming banners are. However, story leaks are no fun and ruin all the excitement Travelers have for what’s to come in Genshin Impact’s story.
