Genshin Impact is executing a real-life Vision Hunt Decree after news of the game versus a certain leaker broke out over the weekend. According to reports, publisher Cognosphere is subpoenaing Discord, a popular instant messaging platform. Naturally, the news surprised gamers and content creators alike since this is the first time Cognosphere has done something as serious. Stay with us to know more about Genshin Impact vs Discord and why exactly Cognosphere is suing one of the biggest social platforms among gamers.

An overview of Genshin Impact vs Discord

With the amount of Genshin Impact leakers popping up nowadays, it was only a matter of time before the game took matters into its own hands. The massive leak that took place a few weeks ago revealed nine months’ worth of content in Genshin Impact. Given how major this was, many leakers distanced themselves from the issue and claimed no part in the data leak.

One of the leakers who claimed no responsibility for the major data leak is Ubatcha. If you’ve been part of the Genshin Impact community for a while, you’ve probably seen this name pop up a few times. Ubatcha is one of the most popular Genshin Impact leakers because they provide information that is accurate most of the time. Some of Ubatcha’s social networking accounts have close to 500,000 followers, further proving their popularity within the Genshin Impact community.

Cognosphere sues Discord to reveal Ubatcha’s identity

TorrentFreak first spotted the court documents involving the Genshin Impact publisher and Discord. Last week, a Los Angeles law firm representing Cognosphere filed a DMCA subpoena application for Discord. According to the application, the Genshin Impact publisher is suing Discord because they have identified content uploaded to a certain channel that “infringes Cognosphere’s exclusive rights under copyright law.”

  • With this news coming to light, leakers are starting to be more careful with the content they post. Ubatcha has been laying low since the news broke out. Unfortunately, they are the target of the subpoena as Cognosphere aims to know the real identity of Ubatcha
  • If a DMCA subpoena is served to a platform like Discord, they must surrender any information they have on the user in question. Any information that may help Cognosphere identify the Genshin Impact leaker will be provided by Discord. These include email addresses, personal mobile numbers, and any other data linked to Ubatcha’s Discord account

  • Ubatcha has also disclosed that the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discord server has already been warned a few times. These warnings focus on the Genshin Impact leaks being shared in one of the Discord server’s channels dedicated to data mining

This is only the beginning of Genshin Impact’s fight against leakers

Besides Discord, the Genshin Impact Leaks community on Reddit is also one of the biggest sources of content leaks for Cognosphere’s hit gacha game. However, the subreddit for Genshin Impact Leaks has already received a few DMCA takedown notices in the past months.

Wangsheng Funeral Parlor server invite

  • This information is readily available on the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discord server. However, some users share it on other social media platforms to get the word around
  • As of writing, there is no official word yet from Ubatcha or Cognosphere regarding the lawsuit. However, a lot of Genshin Impact leakers are stepping away from Discord and other platforms to avoid getting sued as well
  • It seems that this is the best course of action for now. Ubatcha leaked something they shouldn’t have. Otherwise, Genshin Impact publisher Cognosphere would not have gone as far as suing Discord

Title Screen beta with vocals

  • Some Travelers say that Ubatcha leaked the Genshin Impact title screen from beta. This wasn’t supposed to happen, as the humming in the title screen included vocals of a woman singing along to the music. For legal reasons, we will not be including the clip, but it’s still out there somewhere if it hasn’t been taken down due to copyright

The community is torn on what to feel

Now that it’s out there, the Genshin Impact community is divided. Some users are celebrating the downfall of leakers, while some disagree with it. According to those who agree with Cognosphere’s decisions, they needed to teach leakers a lesson.

  • Recently, leakers have been revealing information that includes the story quests and what happens. Well, not everyone wants to be spoiled about the game’s storyline, so a lot of leakers received backlash over that
  • In previous leaks, people like Ubatcha only focused on revealing the schedule for when new characters are expected to arrive. This was helpful to most as it helped them save their Primogems for the characters they wanted
  • However, some leakers are taking it too far by spoiling Genshin Impact’s story to everyone. This ruins the whole point of playing through the Archon and Story Quests. So it’s understandable why Travelers are glad leakers are taking it down a notch
