Now that he’s got his hands on a full copy of Insomniac Games’ masterpiece, Geoff Keighley will release a review for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a few days before its scheduled release on October 20, 2023.
On September 28, 2023, Keighley revealed on his Twitter/X account that he’d just received a full copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.  This means he will be among the lucky individuals who will get to play the full game two weeks before its slated release this Fall.

Naturally, almost everyone in the community is envious of him. We can’t blame them, though. With all the previews we’ve seen on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the game is bound to blow us all away with a larger map, better physics, and a captivating storyline that will have us on the edge of our seats the whole time.
How Geoff Keighley got a full copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 weeks before its release
Anyone in the gaming community might have already heard or seen Keighley at least once or twice. The Game Awards, one of the biggest video game awards shows celebrated annually, features Keighley as its presenter and executive producer. Aside from TGA, he also hosts other gaming ceremonies like the recently concluded Summer Game Fest.
Recently, Keighley’s shows were the talk of the town after a kid thanked Bill Clinton when Elden Ring won GOTY last year, and two men claimed Bill Clinton wanted GTA 6 while he was hosting Gamescom 2023.
After playing 3 hours of MARVEL's Spider-Man 2, my hype has only increased. Insomniac has delivered what may end up as the best superhero video game of all time. The gameplay is so fluid, the combat is super deep and rewarding. Really impressed so far! pic.twitter.com/nM2QVprqrp

Because of his rich background in video game-related careers, Keighley has built his legacy over the years and made meaningful connections with game creators and studios. He also had the chance to play three hours of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a few weeks ago, sharing with his Twitter/X followers that he was impressed with what the preview had to offer.
It would only make sense for Insomniac Games to give someone like Geoff Keighley the full experience of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And Keighley, being the fanboy that he is, couldn’t help but share the excitement with others and announce that he’ll be releasing his own review of the game on October 16 at 10:00 AM EDT.
Can Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 win the GOTY award this year?
Obviously, the decision on who wins GOTY this year isn’t up to Keighley. Besides, the contenders for this year haven’t been announced yet, but the future is looking bright for Insomniac Games’ third title featuring our favorite webhead.

- If we take a look at last year’s results, the ultimate battle for the GOTY award was between Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok, arguably two of the biggest games released in the past year.
- Although God of War: Ragnarok racked up a lot of wins at The Game Awards 2022, FromSoftware’s action RPG reigned supreme. In the end, Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring brought home the bacon.
Keighley’s previous tweet about playing three hours of Spider-Man 2 was enough to spark conversations about whether the game has what it takes to be a GOTY contender this 2023. In his tweet, the TGA exec mentioned that it was “the best superhero video game of all time.”
- All the previews and teasers are definitely a testament to this incredible feat. Insomniac Games has done it once again, and we’re confident that most gamers will agree once Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches in October.
- Deciding who wins the highly coveted Game of the Year award is between an official jury and public voting. 90% of the votes rely on the jury, while 10% comes from public votes. It’s too early to say if Spider-Man 2 will win, but we’re confident it will be part of the official nominees list that will be announced soon.
Some of the other projected contenders for GOTY this year are Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This year’s TGA show will definitely be one for the books, as the golden trio of gaming (PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo) all have amazing releases.
