Rockstar recently revealed their own game launcher, the Rockstar Games Launcher. This is now the sole way of accessing games like GTA V irrespective of the fact whether you own it on Steam or not. Players need to authenticate via the Social Club service and finally use the Rockstar Launcher to access the game. Earlier, San Andreas or GTA V could be played in offline mode. However, that’s no the case anymore.
As many players report and we checked ourselves as well, the games can no longer be played in offline mode, even if you want to try out the single-player game mode. The social club service requires internet connectivity, and you won’t be able to sign in without the internet, which is pretty obvious. What is actually surprising is the offline mode.
The very existence of it is debatable considering the fact when one starts the game via the offline mode, there are a wide array of error messages being displayed. Sometimes it shows that we need to sign in previously on the PC to use offline mode (which we did, but to no avail), whereas at other times it simply threw up an error code. We also got an error stating that the Rockstar Games Service is unavailable. This is more likely a bug, and we hope it will be fixed very soon.
