The Last of Us is an action-adventure game from Sony Interactive Entertainment, developed by Naughty Dog for PS4. A TV adaptation of the game is currently under production by HBO in Canada. The show stars Pedro pascal as Joel, Anna Torv as Tess, and Bell Ramsey as Ellie.
As shooting goes on, fans have been able to get a look at the sets for the show, and have shared first looks into the show. Shooting has moved into certain parts of Alberta in Canada, such as Calgary and the mountain town Canmore. The sets will emulate the game, and fans have been quick to share their views from there.
Welcome to the Apocalypse
- Calgary has been used to recreate Boston QZ, which is the first section in the game. This site serves as the final stronghold for the government before the breakout of Cordyceps in the game.
- While there are going to be some changes made to the storyline to make it suitable for TV, set photos reveal that the events from Boston QZ are going to be quite similar. The set has recreated the cars and streets after the outbreak, covered in creepers and vines, with rubble all around.

The other location is in Canmore Alberta, Canada. This town is set to be transformed into Jackson, Wyoming, which is the settlement run by the character Joel’s brother and former Firefly member, Tommy. The entire set still needs a lot of construction and there is still work to do. But the resemblance is striking already.
“Residents can expect to see aesthetic changes and road closures around the downtown area that will temporarily transform select areas of downtown Canmore into Jackson, Wyoming.” (2/2)
