If you came from the Harry Potter series, you certainly know about the Unforgivable Curses. Well, these three curses can be learned and acquired in Hogwarts Legacy. Don’t worry, you wouldn’t be thrown into Azkaban for using it in the game. The three Unforgivable Curses include Avada Kedavra, Imperius, and Cruciatus, popularly known as Crucio. In case you haven’t learned Crucio yet, here’s a guide on how to get the Crucio Curse in Hogwarts Legacy. In The Shadow of the Study, one of Sebastian Sallow’s quests, demands focus and completing missions to acquire the torture curse, so shall we begin now, Wizards?
How to get Crucio Curse
If you plan to learn all three Unforgivable Curses, you can do that in Hogwarts Legacy. But first, let’s dive into the Cruciatus Curse. Side quests in Legacy help you increase your HP, discover new things and locations, and learn new spells. To unlock and get the Crucio Curse, you have to complete the missions or side quests from the Slytherin student, Sebastian Sallow. All three Unforgivable can be learned from him, by the way.
- You have to be willing to learn the curse. Just one wrong decision or answer to Sebastian, you wouldn’t be able to get the curse. So be mindful of what he asks you, you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity, Wizards.
In The Shadow of the Study quest
There’s not much of a requirement to learn the Crucio Curse. However, you have to be at least level 16 to access the side quest. If you haven’t seen the side quest yet, do check the owl posts from Sebastian Sallow to not miss it.
- You have to complete the side quest entitled “In The Shadow of the Study” to acquire the first Unforgivable Spell in the game. You’ll be along with Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt.
- The aim of this quest — you have to know what happened to Noctua Gaunt. So here’s the start, from the Slytherin Common Room, you have to enter the area with the two characters said above.
- Be sure to light up three pillars consecutively. Consecutively because you have a short time to accomplish lighting it up. This brings you to another doorway which you have to go down.
Explore the doorway
- Now, you may see scattered rocks on the floor in front of a door. Use the Reparo spell to repair it and stick it back on the wall. Head to the door again.
- There should be more puzzles up ahead. You have to unlock the Serpent Door, the power of Revelio would help you do the trick. Use the Serpent Dials to match the symbols on the door and the dial to unlock it. Three Serpent Doors should be opened, so make sure to find it all!
Head to the Scriptorium
- This should be the most exciting part of this quest. Once the Serpent Doors opened, head to the Slytherin’s Scriptorium.
- While you explore the area, it brings you to the front of a door. It isn’t simply a door that you can just open, it requires someone to use the Crucio curse to the other for it to unlock. So you have choices: Not to learn the Cruciatus curse (If you want to know Crucio, don’t pick this), perform the curse on Sebastian, or have Sebastian throw the Crucio curse on you.
- Whether you choose to perform it on Sebastian, or Sebastian performs it on you, you get the Crucio Curse. Well, it would be better to have it thrown by yourself, right? Pick your choice, and then there you have it.
