In Mafia: Definitive Edition’s Combat, “Every Bullet Matters”
Mafia: Definitive Edition’s combat won’t be anything like what we saw in Mafia 3. In the latter, our protagonist was a former soldier, while Mafia: Definitive Edition’s protagonist, Tommy Angelo, is just a cab driver. This brings a huge difference in gameplay and combat of the game.
The gunplay in Mafia: Definitive Edition is from Mafia 3, but with major differences. Combat in the upcoming games is “more lethal” and “every bullet matters” for Tommy. Since Tommy is a cab driver, you won’t survive too much punishment and you’ll have to be very careful throughout Lost Heaven.
You won’t go in gun blazing, rather, taking cover, firing shots, and progressing through your missions. Even the game is a little slow-paced. Sure, there are high octane moments and big set pieces, but the pace is something like The Godfather’s.
Speaking to USGamer, Hangar 13 President and Chief Creative Officer Haden Blackman said, “The original was a challenging game and that was part of its appeal. So trying to walk that line with our normal difficulty mode and make sure that it feels still like a compelling experience for those that remember the original, but doesn’t alienate new fans and players. We’re trying to solve that by providing you with control over a number of different options.”
The game features advanced and selective difficulty options which will allow you to tweak certain difficulty settings to your likeness. You can read more about it by clicking here.
As the player, you’ll explore more storylines and witness better character development sequences of important characters than the original game. Mafia: Definitive Edition also brings in a lot of features from Mafia 3, except for its neighborhood policing system. Developer Hangar 13 has done their best to make missions more meaningful and diverse this time around.
Mafia: Definitive Edition will be out for PC on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28.
