IPL 2022: Maharashtra Government Allows 25% Audience In Stadium

After BCCI allowed a 50% audience in Mohali against Sri Lanka in the first Test match, Maharashtra Government is now also letting a 25% audience crowd. They are allowed only for the first phase of IPL 2022 in the state from March 26th to April 15th. However, only fully vaccinated people will be allowed to enter the stadium. It was very obvious that government will allow crowds for IPL as Covid cases are declining in the country.

Maharashtra government, on Wednesday, conducted a meeting with BCCI and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for smooth conduct of the IPL. Ministers of the state government Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde along with MCA chief Vijay Patil.

Moreover, apex council members Ajinkya Naik and Abhay Hadap, Treasurer Jagdish Achrekar, were present at the meeting. This meeting resulted in allowing the audience into the stadium.

Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai will combinedly host a total of 55 league-stage games in the competition. The remaining 15 games will take place at the MCA International Stadium in Pune. Venues for playoff matches are unknown yet.

Other Arrangements For IPL 2022

• The BCCI has identified five practice venues in Mumbai for the league stage of IPL 2022: the MCA ground in BKC, the Brabourne Stadium at the Cricket Club of India, DY Patil Stadium, the Reliance Corporate Park in Navi Mumbai, and the MCA ground in Thane.
• Each team will be based in a separate hotel. This is to ensure that the bio-secure environment is created and maintained at each of the hotels.
• For safe passage and smooth movement of the 10 teams, a green corridor will be available.
• The participants who will be a part of the bio bubble will undergo strict quarantine for 3-5 days before entering their respective bubbles.
• All the participants in the IPL will undergo a pre-travel RT-PCR test 48 hours before traveling to Mumbai. While in quarantine, they will undergo RT-PCR testing three times, first on Day 1, second on Day 3, and the final one on Day 5.

Moreover, there would be separate arrangements for those who test positive for Covid. Only those who test negative will be allowed to participate in the tournament.
