Parents across the UK have been warned about the potential dangers of Prime energy drink, following a concerning incident at Milton Primary School in Newport, Gwent. The school then issued a warning after one student suffered a “cardiac episode” over the weekend, reportedly after drinking Prime. This has prompted concerns about the safety of energy drinks, and the need for parents to educate their children about the potential risks associated with these products. Is Prime safe for children to consume? Let’s find out.
School Warns Parents of Potential Harmful Effects
Unfortunately, these drinks can have serious health consequences, especially for children and teenagers. In fact, Milton Primary School in Newport, Gwent recently issued a warning to parents after a student suffered a ‘cardiac episode’ following the consumption of a Prime energy drink. According to reports, the child had to have their stomach pumped and is now recovering.

The school sent out a message to parents:
“This morning a parent has reported that their child has had a cardiac episode over the weekend after drinking a Prime energy drink. The child had to have their stomach pumped and although better now, the parent wanted us to share this as a reminder of the potential harmful effects.”
Experts Warn Against Consumption in Large Quantities
Prime Energy Drink, which is available in the UK in 2023 by KSI and Logan Paul, is not currently available in other parts of the world. However, many have been trying to purchase it through online retail stores and have it shipped. Experts have warned against consuming the drink in large quantities, as it contains nearly double Australia’s legal caffeine limit.

Health risks for young consumers: Is Prime safe for children?
Dr. Gina Trapp, who is the head of food and nutrition research at the Telethon Kids Institute, points out that energy drink ads often promise better energy, performance, and concentration. Unfortunately, this message can mislead young consumers into thinking that more is better, and they end up consuming multiple servings, which puts them at greater health risk. Prime, if consumed excessively, is NOT SAFE for children.

Additionally, some schools strictly prohibited the drink from being sold on their premises. Simon Done (Maryborough State High School principal) even revealed that one of his students was ‘bouncing’ off the walls after just a few sips of the sports drink (not even the energy drink itself). “We had a student who had just the sports drink, not the energy drink, and this is a child who’s quite shy, retiring, and quiet normally, and it was like someone had shaken him up and made him fizzy,” he told ABC News.
Message to Parents
- Firstly, it’s highly advised to be aware of the potential dangers of energy drinks both for parents and their children. The incident at MPS is a strong reminder of what these drinks could do to our health. Therefore, it’s very important to be more cautious when allowing our kids to buy such products.
- By doing so, we can make sure that they stay healthy and choose a healthier alternative. As parents we can help our children understand that these drinks will not gain them any health benefits.
- In conclusion, let’s work together to keep our children safe by taking necessary steps to prevent them from consuming such drinks and encouraging them to choose healthier options. And by this, we can help protect their health and well-being in the long run.
