Have you heard of them already? The home to nations’ girl groups’ JYP Entertainment is ready to debut its new girl group, VCHA. The name of this six-member girl group derives from the Korean word for shine, as the group aims to light up their way to stardom. Let’s learn more about VCHA, the newest K-pop girl group in town.

From America to Korea: Meet VCHA

On Friday, September 22, JYP Entertainment unveiled their debuting girl group, VCHA. The group was formed from a global project, A2K (America to Korea), that JYPE and Republic Records collaboratively organized. This survival show featured eleven contestants from the USA and Canada fighting to debut and format the first American K-pop girl group.

  • After tough competition, the final lineup for the group was decided, including six members: Lexi, KG Crown, Camila, Savanna, Kaylee, and Kendall. Who are the members of the K-pop girl group VCHA?

1. Lexi

Lexi Vang, born on November 22, 2005, is the first member of VCHA. She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USA, and currently resides in Illinois. This 16-year-old holds an impressive career history, with twelve years of Ballet experience. Additionally, she was previously a member of the K-pop cover group Prism Kru.

2. KG Crown

The second member of VCHA is Keira Grace, better known as KG Crown. The 15-year-old K-pop idol was born on June 17, 2007, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Afterward, she shifted to LA and received training in musical theater. KG Crown can play piano, guitar, drums, and sports like basketball, football, and skateboarding.

3. Camila

The third winner of A2K is Camila Ribeaux Valdes, born in Barcelona, Spain on August 10, 2005, and raised in Canada. This 17-year-old Idol is fluent in Spanish, French, and English and won third place at the 2016 La Vois Junior.

4. Savanna

Savanna Kollins is 16 years old, born on July 26, 2006, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Her mother is  Venezuelan, and her dad is Trinbagonian. Savanna has seven years of experience as a professional gymnast, but she had to quit it after suffering an injury.

5. Kaylee

Lee Kaylee is the fifth winner of A2K and the beloved maknae of the girl group. The 12-year-old Korean-American K-pop Idol was born November 24, 2009, in Olympia, Washington, USA. Kaylee is particularly a speedy learner as she picked up singing a week before the audition and learned her performance just three days before.

6. Kendall

The last member of VCHA is 16-year-old Vietnamese-American Kendall Ebeling, born on June 1, 2006. She was born and raised in Texas, USA, and has five years of ballet experience. Kendall also dribbled into theater, Jazz, and lyrical before joining and completing the K-pop girl group.

When will the K-pop girl group VCHA debut?

The young girl group released their pre-debut album SeVit (NEW LIGHT) last September 22, 2023. The album includes three tracks: title track Y.O.Universe, Go Getter, and Known Me Like That. These catchy singles are already raising anticipation among their fans, but JYPE is yet to announce the official debut date.

  • A report from Samsung Securities suggests that VCHA will release its debut album between the fourth quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. This also matches the debut pattern of JYPE, who previously launched their Japanese girl group NiziU five months after their pre-debut schedule.

JYPE becomes the first agency with five active girl groups

With the pre-debut releases of VCHA and their stages at Music Bank and M Countdown, JYP Entertainment became the first K-pop agency to have five active girl groups. This furthers the legacy of the agency that housed the nation’s idol groups Wonder Girls and Miss A.

  • The current girl groups of JYPE include TWICE (debuted in 2015), ITZY (2019), NiziU (2020), NMIXX (2022), and lastly VCHA (2023/2024). This establishes a new feather into the cap of the entertainment label and raises fans’ anticipation for the girl group’s debut.
