If there is one vital thing that Loki has established, it’s how the current Marvel Cinematic Universe is set in the Sacred Timeline. Unfortunately, Loki Season 2 also revealed that the timeline is in danger after the events in the previous season. But can the God of Mischief fix this mistake? Hopeful fans are putting their fate on Loki and the rest of the Time Variance Authority to make sure the MCU will continue for years to come.
The idea of the Sacred Timeline was introduced in the first season of Loki after the God of Mischief escaped with the help of the Tesseract in the aftermath of the Battle of New York. The entire MCU is depicted in the timeline, from the first Iron Man film to Avengers: Endgame. But if the timeline ceases to exist due to too many branches, this would also mean that the MCU is no more.
It’s certainly a huge dilemma but Loki is determined to make things right. Luckily, the mid-season trailer for Loki Season 2 seems to suggest that the God of Mischief and the TVA are working hard to get things right after their drastic mistakes in the previous episode.
Loki Season 2 Mid-Season Trailer Features Several Attempts to Save the Sacred Timeline
Marvel Studios has released a mid-season trailer for Loki Season 2 and it seems to confirm that the God of Mischief managed to survive the explosion of the Temporal Loom in the previous season. Or did he? Loki reveals that the TVA is gone and that all of existence is in grave danger, but his warning is misunderstood by Mobius, who is now a salesman working for Piranha Powersports selling jet skis. From there, it’s clear that things are not what they appear but the God of Mischief perseveres. “I need everyone to fix it,” he declares, but will he manage to get his friends to work together?
Although it is still unclear what will happen in the latter part of Loki Season 2, executive producer Kevin Wright previously confirmed that the final two episodes will be about going to “profound places.” The Marvel producer stated that the second season would present the dilemma about the Temporal Loom and instead of the heroes finding the solution by the end of the series, they would be faced with a major disaster.
“If the first four episodes of Season 2 are about things falling apart or not working; choices being made that maybe aren’t the right choices, then the back half can really allow us to go to some, hopefully, profound places,” Wright had said.
At this point, it’s safe to assume that Loki will work with the TVA to try and fix the Sacred Timeline in the next two episodes. But will he also need help from someone who has been attempting to thwart his plans since the premiere?
Will Ravonna Renslayer Help Fix the Sacred Timeline?
When we last saw Renslayer, she was pruned by X-15 aka Brad Wolfe who was under Sylvie’s spell. This means the TVA judge is back in the Void or as the new trailer suggests, in the Citadel at the End of Time with the rotting corpse of He Who Remains. But despite her bad decisions, Renslayer did try to convince Victor Timely to help fix the Temporal Loom. Will she ultimately decide to let go of her plans to take over the TVA and help Loki repair the Sacred Timeline? The truth might be revealed later this week.
