Almost a decade later, we were going to have the legendary Big Three anime airing at the same time once again. Maybe not anymore, as Naruto’s new anime has been delayed. The four episodes-long anime was announced as a part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Naruto. It was set to be released on September 3rd.
But on Tuesday, the creators announced a delay in the release schedule without any information about the new release dates. Naruto continues to stay relevant long after it has ended which is not an easy feat. The fans of Naruto are having a great time this year with the Minato one-shot, the return of Boruto, and the Naruto anime. It seems like we’ll have to wait before we get to see Naruto with the new animation.
Naruto’s new anime: Why has it been delayed?
Now that we know the episodes are delayed and the release dates will be announced sometime in the future, let’s look at the reason behind this delay. The creators cited the quality to be the reason.
They want the quality to be improved to a greater extent. While this is a good thing, for now, the release of the episodes has been postponed indefinitely. An air of uncertainty surrounds the celebratory episodes of Naruto.
Everything we know about the upcoming anime
- It has been confirmed that the celebratory anime will be 4-episodes long and will broadcast for 4 weeks consecutively.
- The opening theme of Naruto’s new anime is “Go!!” by FLOW. It will be the special 20th-anniversary version.
- The ending theme will also be performed by FLOW. It will be a cover of Orange Range’s “Viva Rock”.
- In the meantime, selected Boruto Episodes will be aired in the place of the Naruto episodes.
What to expect?
Naruto’s birthday is on October 10th. If the episodes come out on Naruto’s Birthday, it’ll become the perfect birthday celebration as well as the 20th anniversary celebration of Naruto. But Bleach TYBW Part 2 would end by that time. So we will miss the chance for the big three to air at the same time after years.

Even recently, in Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King and Bleach TYBW Part 2, fans can experience top-notch animation by the Studio. Hence, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming episodes of Naruto will be worth the wait as well.
