The Denver Nuggets opened the 2023-2024 NBA season with a bang. Apart from receiving their championship rings on opening night, the whole organization was in pandemonium as fans roasted their Western Conference rivals with a hilarious chant. During the game, Nuggets fans started chanting “Who’s your daddy” while the Lakers were trailing the Nuggets in Ball Arena. But, why?

LeBron James and the L.A. Lakers were keeping up with the Nuggets, but their efforts weren’t enough against the reigning champs who are led by the Serbian superstar, Nikola Jokic. Throughout the second half, the Purple and Gold were always trailing and struggled to take the lead.
Late in the fourth quarter, when Denver seemed to have booked their season-opener victory, fans were enjoying the moment while also trashing the Lakers team by serenading them with a “Who’s your daddy?” chant. It’s been reported that people from Denver believe the team’s head coach, Mike Malone, is the Lakers’ daddy following their devastating loss in the 2023 Western Conference Finals. It’s worth remembering that Mile High City obliterated Hollywood and eventually won the Larry O’Brien Trophy last summer.

The Nuggets came out with a 119-107 victory against the Lakers and secured their first win of the 2023-2024 season. Aaron Gordon posted 15 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds while Jamal Murray had 21 points, 2 assists, and 6 rebounds. The two-time MVP, Nikola Jokic, played an outstanding game with a 29-point triple-double (29 points, 11 assists, and 13 rebounds). The L.A. Lakers, despite their amazing offseason moves, struggled against the reigning champs. James is the only Laker player to crack more than 20 points. The Lakers have lost to the Nuggets for the 6th straight time already.
When are the Lakers and Nuggets playing each other again this season?
Surely, the Nuggets and Lakers will be two of the favorites to win the championship this season. With Jokic and Anthony Davis guarding each other, it’s going to be an exciting rivalry between these two contenders. These two electrifying teams will meet again on February 8, 2024, and on March 2, 2024. Hopefully, The Joker and The King meet again in the playoffs. Maybe that time, the Lakers may come out alive.
