After his monstrous performance in game 1 of the 2023 NBA playoffs semi-final round against the reigning champs, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is making huge waves on the internet. The superstar forward is making his fans wonder – Is Anthony Davis going to be a Hall-of-Famer when everything is all said and done? Let’s discuss Davis’s career and his chances of joining the elite in the Naismith Hall of Fame.
Is Anthony Davis a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer?
Anthony Davis was the first pick in the 2012 draft and his career has taken off since he joined the NBA. He had just entered his prime and he was just getting started. At 30 years old, AD has already achieved many things that 99% of NBA players could ever dream of. According to basketball-reference.com, Davis currently has a 98.6% chance of becoming a Hall-of-Famer.
Among active NBA players, Anthony Davis sits just below LeBron James (100%), Steph Cury (100%), Kevin Durant (100%), Chris Paul (100%), James Harden (99.99%), and Russell Westbrook (99.94%). That being said, AD is indeed going to be in the Hall of Fame when he retires.
Anthony Davis accolades:
- NBA champion (2020)
- 8× NBA All-Star (2014–2021)
- NBA All-Star Game MVP (2017)
- 4× All-NBA First Team (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020)
- 2× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2018, 2020)
- 2× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2015, 2017)
- 3× NBA blocks leader (2014, 2015, 2018)
- NBA All-Rookie First Team (2013)
- Member of the 75 Greatest Players (75th Anniversary Team)
- The first player in basketball history to win an NCAA title, NBA title, Olympic Gold Medal, and FIBA World Cup
Truly, Anthony Davis already has a long list of accolades to go with his name. His resume already speaks for itself, hence why he most definitely is one of the greatest to play the game. He may not have won an MVP award yet, but he surely is on that level. The only issue AD has is his health. Although Davis is extremely talented, he is very injury prone, which is a problem. If he is fully healthy, we could see a dominant player who could do anything, just like Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Anthony Davis in the 2023 NBA Playoffs is a different beast
If Anthony Davis has been great all season long, wait ’til you find out that he has been dominating in the 2023 NBA playoffs thus far. In the first round, AD was exceptional as he was an integral part of eliminating the 2nd-seed Memphis Grizzlies led by Ja Morant.

In the regular season, Davis averaged 25.9 points and 12.7 rebounds while also swatting 1.8 shots a game. However, he has stepped up for the Los Angeles Lakers in the postseason. First, he helped push the Lakers to survive the Play-In tournament. Then, he took it to the next level by becoming a monster on both ends in the first round against the Grizzlies. Along with LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, and D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers sent the Grizzlies home as they beat them in six games (4-2).
Now that they have advanced to the semi-final round, the Lakers are facing the Golden State Warriors dynasty. Surprisingly, with all the odds siding with the Warriors, L.A. managed to steal game 1. Thanks to Davis’ superb performance, the Lakers now lead the series, 1-0. Anthony Davis was dominant as he tallied 30 points, 23 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 blocks. The only other player to have a similar stat line in the playoffs is no other than The Fundamental, Tim Duncan. With AD and LeBron James playing great and being healthy, can the Los Angeles Lakers win it all?
