NBA Executives Rumors: Damian Lillard Wants Out of Portland?

Portland, Oregon (February 2022) – The Rip City looks to be torn between “rebuilding” and keeping Damian Lillard. Dame, the all-star point guard from the Trail Blazers is already 31 years old.

The Blazers made questionable moves before the All-Star break. They shipped their second-leading scorer, C.J. McCollum, to New Orleans during the trade deadline. Additionally, they also traded two of their key players, Norman Powell and Robert Covington.

Rumors are spreading that NBA stars like Zion Williamson, Donovan Mitchell, and now, Damian Lillard could possibly ask for a trade this offseason.

  • Zion, who is plagued with injuries this season, has already a lot of possible trade scenarios surrounding him.
  • Mitchell, on the other hand, is more likely to stay with Utah. But the Jazz’s shortcomings in their previous playoff runs might force Mitchell’s hand in the future.
  • Lillard has always been in talks for a possible trade with the top teams in the league. Teams that eyed Dame were the Lakers, Bucks, and the Warriors. There were previous plans for him to teaming-up with another superstar.

The six-time NBA All-Star really wants to stay with Portland. He already clarified his goal and dreams for the organization. He’s focused on winning a chip with the Blazers whatever it takes.

“It’s always good to be the first one to do something,’’ Lillard said. “Especially being part of an organization I plan on being a part of for my entire career. It’s an honor, but I would have liked for it to be in a winning effort.’’

Asking “out” from a team is not new anymore.

James Harden has already done it twice. First with the Houston Rockets, and then with the Brooklyn Nets. Heck, even Ben Simmons did it with the Sixers. We all knew it was ugly.

So Dame asking for a trade wouldn’t be a surprise. He’s already given so much to the organization, and for that, he will forever be one of the greatest Blazer to play the game.

But, the real thing is that being loyal does not pay in this business. (DeMar Derozan knows that for sure). Soon, Lillard will get older, and possibly still won’t get a chip for the City of Portland. There may come a time when either he or the management pursues a different path.

The Blazers are looking to be out of playoff contention, but it may be because they are missing the presence of their superstar point guard due to injuries.

Even though he is currently injured, Dame is still a very valuable asset for the Trail Blazers. His trade value is still very high, and teams are dying to sign Dame. We will soon see what the future holds for Damian Lillard and the Blazers.
