After a disappointing performance from Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in game 1 of the Western Conference finals, the Golden State Warriors now take the lead in the series, 1-0.
Golden State Warriors V.S. Dallas Mavericks Game 1 Summary
GSW’s death line-up destroyed the Mavs and won the first game with a blowout win, 112-87. The Dubs killed the Mavs’ defense with their great ball movement and fantastic offense. Seven (7) Warriors players put up double digits in scoring (Curry, Thompson, Green, Poole, Wiggins, Looney, and Porter Jr.). In addition to that, their tight defense was also equally as good as their offense. At the end of the game, they already outrebounded Dallas, 51-35. As a result, the Warriors crushed the Mavs on both ends of the floor.
On the other hand, Mavs looked discombobulated on the court. After their success against the Phoenix Suns, they looked fairly unprepared against the former champs (Warriors). Luka Doncic did not play very well. The Slovenian superstar committed more turnovers than his made field goals (7 TOs with 6 field goals made). Fortunately, they still have a chance to bounce back in this series. We’ve seen them do it against the Suns in the Semi-finals, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they do it again with the Warriors.

The odds to win this series favor the best team in California, the Golden State Warriors. This is mainly because this team is more experienced, more skilled, and has a deeper team.

But, Luka is having his best playoff run in his career and is arguably the best player in this year’s playoffs so far. He’s currently the leading scorer in this tournament and leads his team to the farthest they’ve ever been in the postseason since the Dirk Nowitzki era.

Dallas needs to recover from their huge loss in game 1. Head coach Jason Kidd needs to find a way to get through the Warriors’ zone defense. Although they found a way to come out on top against Chris Paul and the Suns, this Warriors team is a team to be scared of.

- The Warriors are a great basketball team. Take note, they are a TEAM. It’s not a one-man army. Everyone in GSW contributes, while Dallas still needs to find a way to fill that gap.

Their next matchup will be on May 20, 2022 (@ 9 PM). Warriors will still host the Mavs in Game 2 in Chase Center while hoping to close out the series as soon as they can.
