Major League Baseball (MLB) has been on lockout since the expiration of the previous CBA last December 2, 2021. The organization, as well as the players and the fans, are already infuriated by this event.
The MLB the MLBPA (Players Association) were set to meet last February 28 to close the gap between the team owners and the player union. However, there are still no signs of a closure for a deal between the two. It seemed like their ideas and proposals are still “far apart” from each other.

The players association felt underappreciated and undercompensated with how the league is treating them. This lockout is inevitable and it was a long time coming.

The target opening day is due on March 31, and the lockout needs to be lifted within this week to start spring training as soon as possible. If a deal is still not yet finalized, teams may miss some early games. Worst comes to worst, the 2022 season may even be canceled.
One player, a New York Yankee starting pitcher Jameson Taillon calls out MLB owners. He’s spoken for their gross negligence and the way they handle negotiations with the union. Taillon is also part of the player’s representatives during the meetings. He has openly expressed his frustration with the league and team owners.
“Players are used to their ‘threats’. Owners’ actions have made it clear all along that they have a set [number] of games where they still make profits/get TV money. They don’t want to play. It’s sad that these are the guys who drive the direction and ‘future’ of our amazing sport.” – James Taillon posted on Twitter
It was already previously announced that missed games after the season-opener will not be compensated by the league.
