No plans to bring more exclusives to other platforms, Microsoft says

Microsoft has said it does not plan to allow exclusive titles to make way to any other consoles.

Following Ori and the Blind Forest, which arrives on Nintendo Switch 27 Sep, Microsoft will not expand its first-party IPs to platforms outside of PC and Xbox One from now on.

It seemed for a while that Microsoft would allow titles from its PC and Xbox platforms to appear on Nintendo Switch, following the release of Cuphead.

It should be noted though that Cuphead is not an Xbox IP, but, prior to its Switch release, had only been available on PC and Xbox One.

A statement from Microsoft said: “Going forward these new studios will focus on making games for our platforms. We have no plans to further expand our exclusive first-party games to other consoles.”

It’s a move which has perplexed some as it seemed that Ori and the Blind Forest, as well as Cuphead, were perfect for the Nintendo Switch, even more so than Xbox One and that an agreement had been made between the two parties.
