Pokemon Go: December 2021 Community Day, What To Expect

The last community day in 2021 will take place on the 18th and 19th of December, 2021 from 11 AM to 5 PM local time. It will feature familiar faces from 2020 and 2021. Pokémon that have appeared in 2021 Community Day events will appear more frequently in the wild, while Pokémon that appeared in 2020 Community Day events will be hatching Eggs and appearing in raids. This will allow players who missed any Community Day to encounter the same Pokémon again.

Trainers will find it useful to stock up on Stardust and other items as the upcoming event has a lot to engage in. Niantic has planned to bid 2021 goodbye with a huge event.

Event Bonuses:

  • 2x Catch XP
  • 2x Catch Stardust
  • ½ Hatch Distance when are placed in Incubator
  • Incense activated during event lasts for 3 hours

Special Bonuses

  • 1 extra trade per day
  • Stardust costs for trade are 25% less

Additionally, the max Pokémon Storage and Item Bag are to be increased so that Trainers can stock up on Poke Balls and will be able to store more Pokémon too.

Wild Encounters

Different Pokémon will be featured on the 18th and the 19th. Players will stand a chance to encounter a Shiny Pokémon. On the 18th the following Pokémon will be featured.

  • Machop
  • Gible
  • Fletchling
  • Swablu
  • Roselia
  • Snivy

On the 19th, the following will be featured.

  • Duskull
  • Oshawott
  • Shinx
  • Tepig
  • Eevee (will know Last Resort)

2 KM Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from 2 km eggs, and players will stand a chance to catch a Shiny Pokémon.

  • Abra
  • Gastly
  • Charmander
  • Weedle
  • Magikarp
  • Elekid
  • Porygon
  • Rhyhorn
  • Magby
  • Piplub
  • Seedbot
  • Budew

Raids

Pokémon listed below, which also appeared in 2020 Community Days, will be featured in raids. Players will stand a chance to catch a Shiny Pokémon.

  • Electabuzz
  • Magmar
  • Magikarp
  • Porygon
  • Seedbot

Apart from this, 2021’s last Community Day will also have the special move feature, where Pokémon featured in the event are evolved, they will learn a special move. Each Pokémon in December’s event will learn a special move if they are evolved to their highest levels.

There are two types of attack moves featured here, the fast attack and charged attack. A small number of Pokémon will learn fast attacks, while a larger group of Pokémon will be able to learn charged attacks. These moves can be learned by Pokémon when they are evolved between 17th December at 10 AM and 20th December at 10 AM (GMT-8).

Charged attacks are more diverse and are more incentive for evolving Pokémon during the event. Some of the moves focus on Pokémon’s own type, while others are different types, resulting in powerful moves. These moves can mean changes for the future strategies and utilities of Pokémon.

Special Research Story

Trainers will be able to access the December Community Day- exclusive Special Research Story by spending $1 or the equivalent amount in local currency. The tickets are not yet available, and they will be non-refundable once bought. Further, this event will not reward an in-game medal.

Timed Research

This will be focused on all Pokémon featured in Community Day events in the past two years. It will last from 18th December at 11 AM local time to 20th December at 10 AM local time.

Field Research Tasks

This will last from 17th December 10 AM to 29th December 10 AM PST (GMT-8). Completing Field Research Tasks will allow players to earn Mega Energy for certain Pokémon, which are listed below.

  • Charizard
  • Beedrill
  • Gengar
  • Gyrados
  • Altaria

Event Bundles

Bundles will be available from 17th December 10 AM to 20th December 10 AM PST (GMT-8). A one-time-purchase Community Day Box will be available for 1280 PokéCoins. This Box will contain six Star Pieces, one Elite Fast TM, Elite Charged TM, and 50 Ultra Poke Balls. Further, 30 Ultra Balls will be available for free at the shop!
