Pokémon GO Exceeds 1 Billion Total Downloads
The absurd and relatively enduring success of Pokémon GO was one of the most peculiar social phenomena born of the video game industry. The mobile title is launched with immediate success around the world and despite its popularity has fallen, but it still managed to maintain some success in the years since. This is largely due to the great way the title is still supported right now, with things like new features, events and more.
What exactly does this success look like in terms of pure and raw numbers? Since its launch, Pokémon GO has been downloaded a billion times worldwide. Now, this does not mean that it has been downloaded by a billion different players, in fact, many of these are probably re-downloads, but it is still an enormously impressive figure.
Since April of this year, Pokémon GO has collected more than $2.5 billion in revenue, of which $800 million was billed only in 2018. According to these numbers, it should not surprise the success of the game even after the “drop of popularity”.
Another mobile version of Pokémon, Pokémon Masters, developed by DeNA, will be released for iOS and Android devices on August 29th. What do you think of the Pokémon GO numbers? Do you still play?
