Pokemon GO: Lucky Pokemons, How To Get

Just like Shinies, Lucky Pokémon in Pokémon Go is a whole type of Pokémon to keep an eye out for. Lucky Pokémon have a gold background and shimmering effects. Lucky Pokémon are likely to be stronger in battle. They also come with a direct benefit; this allows the Pokémon to power up at a cheaper level than regular Pokémon, using only half as much Stardust. They have minimum IVs of 12/12/12. The very lowest IV a Lucky Pokémon can have is 80%, which is a score of 10 for every stat.

How To Get Lucky Pokemons

• Lucky Pokémon can only be obtained by trading. The older a Pokémon is and the longer it has been in a Trainer’s box, the higher the chance that it can become a Lucky Pokémon when it is traded. On average, there is a 5% chance that a Lucky Pokémon can be obtained when trading.
• The trade mechanism only looks at the age of the oldest Pokémon. For example, if players trade a Pokémon from 2018 and one from 2021, the chances are calculated based on the age of the 2018 Pokémon.

• If the Pokémon was caught much longer back, such as in between July-August 2016; or if either of the Trainers has received less than 10 Lucky Pokémon from trades; there is a higher chance of getting a guaranteed Lucky Pokémon.
• A special upgrade to a Best Friend where players can become Lucky Friends is also a way of guaranteeing that trading results. When trading with a Lucky Friend, there is a 5% chance of obtaining a Lucky Pokémon when you interact for the first time every day.
• Becoming Lucky Friends is also based on chance. When players have reached the Best Friend stage, there is a chance that they will become Lucky Friends every time they open a gift from that particular friend.
