Sony’s PlayStation is yet again competing with Microsoft’s Xbox as they prepare to launch their own version of the Xbox Game Pass. Dubbed as “Project Spartacus“, Sony aims to have both classic and modern games as the game pass’ selling point.
Project Spartacus is a subscription service for PlayStation users.
It’s a new and improved version of PlayStation Plus, with a wider catalog of games to offer for subscribers. The only difference between PlayStation Plus and Project Spartacus is the new game pass will be divided into three tiers:
- Essential – $10 per month
- Extra – $13 per month
- Premium – $16 per month
The Essential tier will have the features that a normal PlayStation Plus subscription offers. These are the access to online multiplayer functions of games and the regular 3-4 monthly games subscribers can download.
The Extra tier will offer the same services as the Essential tier but subscribers will have access to over 300 titles they can then download.
Finally, the Premium tier will give subscribers access to classic games and cloud streaming. The catalog of games involved in the Premium subscription is classic titles in the previous PlayStation generations. Subscribers can expect famous titles from PS1, PS2, and PS3 to be included in the Premium pass for Project Spartacus. Additionally, Premium subscribers have access to game demos before their initial release.
Sony President Jim Ryan hinted at Sony’s own game pass last November when asked about how they will counter Microsoft’s Game Pass. “There is actually news to come, but just not today,” he told TASS.

Excellent
So potentially $252 a year, or just spend $400 on a Steam Deck… Hmm 🤔
If you have a PC, why would you get a steam deck?? $252 can get you 4 AAA games. 16*12 ($192) a year can get you all those games and ps exclusives with game streaming and online play.
Expensive garbage.
Are they allowing us to keep buying PS Plus? I dont need these extra services
What is going to happen with the regular PS Plus currently active on my account?
