According to GfK data, the PlayStation 5 has sold more than one million units in the UK. The PS5 became the fastest-selling PlayStation in the UK in August; 39 weeks after its release in Europe on November 19. It also surpassed the PS4’s turnaround time in Japan.
Up to this point, the PS4 had sold more in the United Kingdom in the same time frame. However, that shifted this summer with a raise in stock. Amidst a shaky start to the month, the PS5 was the best-selling console in August, but that quickly changed with the arrival of additional units. The Nintendo Switch was the second most popular console, though sales were down from July, and the Xbox Series S and X were third.
In August, PS5 surpassed 1m sales in the UK. It did it 3 weeks faster than the PS4. Up until July, PS4 was trending ahead of PS5, so there was quite the influx of stock over the summer.
