PS5 gets fresh look with liquid cooling mod
A duo of modders managed to create the world’s first water-cooled PS5. The video was posted on the YouTube channel Modding Cafe on February 27th, 2021.
Liquid cooling uses water to reduce heat generated in gaming PCs and is quieter and more effective than traditional fan-based coolers which also happen to be comparatively cheaper than the former. Consoles have yet to officially start using this piece of technology.
The modded version of the PS5 is more compact than the original PS5 which uses 120mm cooling fans thus adding to the massive size of the console device, reports VGC.
In the recent past PS5 customization has become quite popular with companies like Dbrand selling matte black ‘darkplates’.
Presently, the PS5 stock scenario remains critically injured from the twin challenges of a global scarcity of hardware parts caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic and various scalper associations using bots to sweep stores clean — something that prompted a United Kingdom MP to move a bill to criminalize the process.
Sony’s is also facing a class-action lawsuit over alleged ‘drift issues’ in its DualSense controllers.
