Dbrand challenges Sony to sue them for selling matte black PS5 plates
Dbrand, the company behind custom phone skins, cases and screen which had recently released its new matte black custom ‘darkplates’ is now taunting Sony to sue them.
The accessory is unofficial and not an original Sony product and is only meant to beautify the PS5. To provide some context to the matter, accessory firm PlateStation5.com, which was going to sell custom PlayStation face plates, was forced to cancel all its stocks and rebrand itself as CustomizeMyPlates.com after Sony lawyers complained of trademark infringement.
Presently, Dbrand has sold out all its matte black darkplates and the company is waiting for restocks to arrive on May. The darkplate has a unique design featuring tiny PlayStation button icons microtexture which the company boldly calls “a familiar-but-legally-distinct apocalyptic spin on the classic PlayStation button shapes”.
Dbrand is selling matte black darkplates for disc PS5 editions for $49.00, adding a middle skin to that bumps the price to $60.95. The digital PS5 edition, darkplates cost $19.95 with a middle skin, though, the matte black design is yet to be made available for it.
